I was so scared to take these photos with this phenomenal photographer. I wore no make up, no fancy lingerie (I made the panties myself) I was completely bare & honest both physically & mentally. These photos are a tool with which I can see beauty in myself & realize that no opinions of me matter. What matters is that I choose to be in love with myself & marvel at the beauty I find in me. Thank you Andrew ;)
Stills/photography from video piece "Women’s work", 2014
Women’s work is a video piece (artist response to Hudson’s photography) looking at the idea of oppressed sexuality of a trapped middle aged housewife, looking at the idea of secretly owning sex toys in order to get around this, combining this with the idea of women being kept within the kitchen- often to their own advantage. Inspired by some of my parents friends stories and stories of 1960’s housewives secret dildo collections, hidden from their husbands in underwear drawers.
